My doubts all started when my small, casual dinner party went from four to five. Four people and a Zuni chicken is perfectly reasonable. But five? It got me thinking, and here's what I've come up with:
Swedish meatballs, no noodles, and I only have enough for each person to have three (I'm going to just serve them family style in a small casserole).
Nigella Lawson's watermelon salad; again, small, as I have only a quarter of a watermelon left.
Cream of asparagus soup with white bean puree drizzled on top.
Chicken and bread salad
Cubes of chocolate cake topped with lightly whipped cream and diced balsamic strawberries
I could easily add buttermilk drop biscuits to the list, but that's a lot of bread in one meal, don't you think?
Is my menu unbalanced in any way? I'm trying to show off some seasonal vegetables in the soup and two salads, and give my friends a balanced meal.
