Friday lunch in the Valley at La Frite

Zoe | Jun 24, 200509:01 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions that fellow Hounds gave us and to Carter particularly who suggested La Frite. Just fitted the bill - sat in the airy patio street adjacent but well protected from too much noise and had a really great lunch: famous Salade Nicoise that was prounced just right including chunks of tuna, crispy green beans, a good dressing - you get the picture: two happy campers. I had Eggs Florentine - fresh steamed spinach and a heap at that with two perfectly poached eggs, hollandaise on the side which was WORTH EATING. Yum. Please lots of skinny fries (gave those away in deference to the liquid diet). Iced tea all round and coffee to finish and gawked at the dessert tray - terrific selection, bread pud, two kinds of brulee, double mousse cake (choc and vanilla) and tarte tatin. We still passed. Bill $15 each including tip. Great way to start a weekend. Nice service too.

La Frite.
Ventura Blvd east of 405, near Kester.
