Has anyone tried the cheeses from the little old lady at the "Dairy and Delicatessan" in Williamsburg (on Metropolitan by Lorimer St.) I have been buying her fresh mozzerella (regular and smoked) for a while now. She sells little warms balls wrapped in plastic that are made fresh daily. I also bought a blob of fresh scamorza this weekend, it was really tasty. I have never had it fresh like that, so I can't compare it, but I liked it very much. It was delicious at room temperature and also melted.
I HIGHLY recommend her homemade smoked mozzerella. At $12 a ball, it's a bit expensive, but it's huge and worth every penny. The plain mozzerella is good too. Very milky and creamy, yum. There is a nice bakery across the street for a decent ciabatta to take home too.
