Fresh seafood sticker shock.

Puffin3 | Jun 15, 201505:42 AM     112

Yesterday I decided to have a treat. I pointed to one live Dungeness crab and said "I'll have that one" to the guy at the fish counter of Thrifty's Foods Duncan BC. These crabs can be caught by anyone a couple of miles from here BTW.
The guy wrapped the crab up and I asked how much? That will be $52" was his answer. I just about fell over. I said "sorry there's no way I'm paying half a hundred bucks for a one crab. I then pointed to two small fresh lingcod fillets and asked how much they would be. He weighed them and said $24!
I ended up buying a small strip loin steak for $8.
Have I been asleep or are other CHer's finding the cost of seafood skyrocketing in your area?
