Fresh, Local Long Island Seafood

Gastronomos | Nov 8, 201504:21 PM

I know we've discussed this topic in other ways, but I'm curious as those posts are old and we need new, fresh sources and discussions.

I was at Rachel's Waterside Grill recently (I know, I'm a glutton for punishment) and was talked into having mussels after being told there's no local seafood on the menu. They were listed on the menu as P.E.I., big surprise.

OK. I get my mussels and they were not only small, but they weren't fresh either. They shrivelled up in their shell and they served them anyways.

We know this is not a dining destination, but it Is popular and it's probably the only busy food joint on the Nautical Mile.

I'm not looking to fix stupid here, but I am looking for fresh local seafood.

I'm finishing up my fishing season soon and gorging myself on fish that's at worst hours old and prepared in so many tasty, flavorful and delicious ways. Now during hunting season I'm hoping for restaurant seafood preparations of fresh local seafood.

What do Chowhounds on Long Island do for fresh Local seafood?
