We're up in Maine right now enjoying haddock -- baked and fried -- Mmm, some fried haddock sandwiches we got at a little seafood shack in Rye Beach New Hampshire on the way up, and a really great baked haddock lunch in a small restaurant in Kingfield Maine. However, this post is about where we can find some good fresh haddock when we get home to Baltimore. Either restaurants that have it on the menu, or local fish markets.
We usually shop for fish at the Whole Foods, or sometimes we go to Conrad's Crabs on Joppa Road near Loch Raven Blvd. The selection of fish is hit or miss. I realize that some of this is seasonal, but I I don't think I've ever seen haddock at either place. Some suggestions for fish markets, preferably on the north or northwest side of town, would be appreciated.
As for eating out, in this city of crab cakes, true fish restaurants seem few and far between. All we now about are chain restaurants, like McCormack and Schmick's (Expensive), Bonefish grill, or the Red Lobster. Any local places that are good?
