Frenchie To Go-worst sandwich of my long life

tming | Sep 22, 201710:58 AM     7

About one week ago I stopped in Frenchie To Go for a coffee and got in a conversation with a visiting chef from NYC who was eating a smoked veal sandwich which looked delicious and he said it was very good. What could go wrong with a sandwich of high quality home smoked veal, country bread with tartare sauce ,Dijon mustard and even containing crispy chicken skin?
a few days later I went back for the sandwich and ordered french fries with it.
The sandwich was simply terrible. The sandwich itself was not even warm but more importantly there were pieces of ice cold, almost freezing pickle slices throughout the sandwich. Also, instead of the mustard being spread evenly ,it was in clumps. Thus some bites tasted of pure mustard and other bites had zero
mustard taste. And the side dish of french fries?Totally cold, not a hint of warmth.
The whole experience was of ,to be blunt, disgusting food.
Shame on Frenchie to Go.Yes,restaurants are not perfect and mistakes are made.Mistakes like too much or too little salt ,a hair in the food (We were in a 3 Michelin Star restaurant and there was a hair in one dish-and they just about offered us the whole meal for free as compensation) or even leaving out a minor ingredient by accident are excusable but putting ice cold pickles in a sandwich or clumping the mustard is different. It reflects an attitude of not giving a damn about the customer's experience.
Yes,shame on Frenchie To Go but equally shame on me for accepting such a sandwich and fries.I myself wonder why I did not return it. Lots of possibilities,I was too tired, the place was super busy and it would be too difficult to catch a server's attention.I don't know but I won't let this happen again.
I would like to end this review on a positive note.So here are 2 positive notes.
1- I would like to thank John Talbott for his many reviews and comments (many is an understatement). I have learned so much from him over the years.
2- These are some of the restaurants I love and don't disappoint me(in no particular order).Elmer, Bien Eleve, Amarante, Septime, Clover (both Clover Grill and Clover St. Germain des Pres)x, Miznon, L'ami Jean, Les Arlots,Gros and L'ambroisie.
