Frenchette

i found myself with a table for 2 at frenchette 2 saturday nights ago and figured id share my thoughts here. obviously, frenchette is the most buzzy of all new restaurants and i have to say, it deserved the hype and i usually avoid this sort of stuff.

we had an 8pm reservation and were warmly greeted by the friendly foh. we were seated within 3 minutes at a nice table in the main dining room. the front room and bar seems to be reserved for walk-ins. our server was a super sweet and friendly woman who used to work at schillers apparently. she helped my wife and i through the menu due to some dietary issues. no matter how many questions, she was super accommodating and friendly.

we had the chicory salad and the escargot to start. the salad was simply a fine bistro salad for someone wanting something leafy. my escargot in soft cooked eggs were quite good though a little skimpy on the snails. i think there maybe were 5 in there but it was enjoyable. i shouldve tried the tortilla and the anchovies...perhaps next time.

entrees were the bavette steak with frites and the rabbit with egg noodles. everything was cooked perfectly. it wasnt mind blowing but its bistro food...just done very very well. my rabbit was a little more cooked than i prefer actually but a very comforting dish. the cote de boeuf is certainly the steak to get here though.

dessert was their fancy kit kat...some chocolate log with crunch. it was great and in your face...nothing subtle about it.

2 glasses of solid natural wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees and 1 dessert came out to $140ish before tip. the place had a great buzz, the service was excellent, the food was solid and if its possible to get a decent reservation, id come back every 4-6 weeks. very fun night out.
