I just toss eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla together and eyeball the amounts. Sometimes I add nutmeg or cinnamon, depending on my topping or stuffing or whatever.
It usually turns out pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone had any outstanding french toast custard recipes.
You know, the kind that puffs up the bread just right and crisps on the outside and is that perfect balance of sweet-but-not-too-sweet, with a bit of spice or a bit of citrus or a bit of... whatever else you happen to put in there...
You see where I'm going with this.
