Freezing Sour Cream

I have recently read a claim that freezing sour cream does not affect it ("just defrost and whisk to recombine"). Now I have no problems freezing , thawing and using milk or cream, but this surprises me that sour cream would not lose its thickness. when i have defrosted buttermilk, it is thin and not thick like it was before. have any of you tried freezing sour cream? thanks for your help.
