Freezing a rib eye roast

Hello Everyone.

First off. If you live in the Los Angeles area, Ralph's has rib-eye bone in steaks and roasts for $5.47 a pound (sale will go until 7/5/2016). Needless to say, I just bought a bunch of meat. The steaks I don't need help with (but feel free to give me links or suggestion to try) but I bought a rib eye roast (3 lb) and I need help. My husband and step daughter don't eat beef (although I'm not sure if she'll be able to hold out when I make this roast ;). So I want to save it for a special dinner when I can invite some beef eaters over. My question is 1. should I season it before I freeze it. 2. should I wrap it in parchment, then saran wrap? 3. can I cook it frozen or do I have to thaw it?
4. (and most important) how long can I keep it in a regular freezer, I don't have a deep freeze.

Oh and on average, how many people do you think a 3lb roast would feed?
