Freezing pumpkin pie?

OK, so I want to bake a pumpkin pie for Christmas Day. Can I do this today, let it cool, then freeze it, thawing it out the morning of the 25th?

Or would you recommend keeping it in the fridge?

Or just leaving it on the counter, covered?
