Freezing mac and cheese

I am making a big pan of mac and cheese for an event in a couple weeks. (Recipe below; it always comes out excellent.) This time I am freezing it. Do I freeze after everything is stirred together, before it goes in the oven? With the topping, or do the topping the day of? Would the topping lose its crunchiness from being frozen?
