freezing blueberries

I picked 3 qts of blueberries yesterday and would like to freeze at least half of them. What is the best way to do this? Someone at work is telling me to wash them, let them dry slightly and then put them on a cookies sheet in a single layer, put them in the freezer and after they're frozen, put them in freezer bags. Which might be ok if my freezer had nothing in it. Is it possible to just wash them, dry them and put them in freezer bags?
