Please explain Fratelli Carli to me from an Italian perspective.
Fratelli Carli is involved in a major marketing push in the USA. Their major product is Olio Carli, which sometimes is on sale offering three 17 oz bottles of EVOO for $20.00. They also sell bulk cheeses, sauces, etc. all by mail order.

I figured this was some folks in Italy trying to make a buck by exporting ordinary products and pretending in the USA to be a specialty brand for marketing purposes.
To my surprise, the last time we were in Italy -- last spring, in Torino -- I saw very elegant-looking specialty shops dealing exclusively in Fratelli Carli products in very nice shopping areas of the city. So I'm curious about what Italians make of Fratelli Carli -- who buys their products, what quality they represent, etc.
Who in Italy would buy Fratelli Carli? What does this brand represent in the larger world of Italian brands of food?
Inquiring minds want to know . . . . .
