FRANKIE'S is a nouveau italian restaurant on lower court st between 4th place & luquer street. it's a quietly charming indoor/outdoor space, i guess it was an old blacksmith shop or something. i went early with a regular and friend of one of the frankie owners and we sat at bar so service was excellent.
we had small plates of roasted vegetables to start: brussels sprouts, mushrooms, potato/corn, broccoli rabe and green beans. also a fava bean and cheese salad. what can i say, all were mighty tasty, not a clunker in the bunch. we drank some new cold dry white italian they pulled out, i didnt catch what it was but it was great.
the mains were what i think are regualr dishes: the crumbled sausage and peppers dish and the yam and sage broth ravioli. wow, both were rich as sin. very flavorful. i loved'em.
for dessert we also split some prunes and marscapone. a super combo that goes together magically like ham&eggs or pb&j. we also had a amaro digestivos. sweet & smoov!
i didnt catch the bill, but we left $60/each tip included. there is a lot more of the menu i'd like to try, the salads in particular. as a tip i'd go early, it fills up quick and was packed when we left (around 8:00pm i think). this is a restaurant that seems to deserve all it's accolades. give'm a try if you haven't already!
