Perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't find anything on the board yet about Foyer on Notre Dame. If my experience there was in any way representative, it's worth a visit. We went for, and ordered, pizza, although the menu is not limited to that, and if the pies were any indication, there is every reason to believe they will do other things well too.
There are two terraces, a very small one out front on the street, and one in the back. If I understand correctly the one on the street doesn’t have a liquor licence, however the one in the back does. We ate in the backyard and I was most impressed with the whole experience.
The service was attentive and friendly, including supplying blankets for anyone who was finding it a bit chilly (which was a cute gesture, and a practical one). My individual pizza was first rate. I ordered the wild mushroom version, and it was excellent. The pizzas are simple (not a great number of ingredients), with a reasonably substantial crust (not cracker-thin as one finds in many gourmet pizza places). They have a proper wood burning pizza oven, and if I’ve had a better pizza in Montreal, I can’t recall when. Excellent service, a first-class pizza, charming environment, and reasonably priced – a combination will certainly get us to return in the near future.
