fort lauderdale thus far

Been in Fort Lauderdale for a week and acted on some chowhound suggestions. Thanks everyone! We are focused on reasonably priced or inexpensive quality and not the buffets and chains that predominate where we come from.

Really liked shuck and dive for the black and blue and bienville oysters and the fried catfish. after the oysters, we split the catfish dinner. Be advised that they have moved to hwy 1 and 6th street in fort lauderdale and are hard to find as you drive by.

Also went to bobby rubino's - very reasonably priced with large portions and good food. In fact two could split a dinner. I had mahi - two pieces and my wife had skewered shrimp with pineapple.

Also went to Rickey's in Hollywood. Friday- Sunday is lobster night with 2 maine lobsters for 21.95. Get there by 5:30-6:00. Also Recommend the wings but didn't like the peel and eat shrimp.

Went to Calypso - very good with an excellent selection of fish but not as wonderful as everyone seems to think. I had the jerked pork and it was good - very spicy.

Mango's on Las Olas was good for happy hour. Appetizers were half price and the smoked salmon and coconut shrimp were quite well done and drinks were good. Recommend taking the water taxi and getting off for an hour at happy hour for a good lazy afternoon.

Will be here for another week so I will be searching the board!!!
