I always forget how good the Rose Cafe is for lunch

However, not today. Started with the gazpacho, really tasty and fresh – not the chucky type with a watery stock, but a nice assortment hit in a food processor a few times so everything was of consistent size – nice spice too. On entree was the chicken Cesar and I must say this is one of the best ever. Tender white meat, tangy dressing with a hit of garlic and lemon, nice size portion – sm but tasty crotons – just wonderful. The other course was the vegetable quiche Loraine, with sun dried tomatoes and asparagus finished with a nice cheese, Gruyere I think. They use a terrific fila dough for the crust and rolled thick near the back and it comes out nice and toasted. Again, good portion size. This was one of the best lunches I have had in a long time. As many know, the outside area is fantastic with umbrellas that let filtered light through. Also nice seating inside – the place is pretty artistry. Good rolls still warm and water hit the table within a minute. Total was $ 24 w/o tip and inc one coffee. Soup was a buck for a bowl! I defy anyone to find a better place environment and food wise for lunch. Main and Rose/Venice. Kurt
