Old Forge Pizza: Revello's vs. Gighiarelli's

My first try eating Old Forge Pizza was a success: Crispy crust, tany oniony sauce, grainy but ok cheese. Despite its thickness and size, the tray of pizza at Gighiarelli's was light and airy.

Then I tried Ravello's across the street. Cheese is a cloying mixture of Cheddar and American. Crust is heavy and leaden. Sauce had the same oniony tang. If this was my first attempt at Old Forge pizza, there wouldn't be a second. Maybe the worst pizza I've ever had.

Also on the same block is Arcaro and Genell, but I haven't tried that yet. Several others within a few blocks.

Just don't make Revello's your first stop in Old Forge.
