Best Take-Out in Forest Hills-Rego Park

Janie | Sep 27, 2004 10:46 PM

Would appreciate some OTHER suggestions for some good takeout in Forest Hills-Rego Park area that travels well, and reheats easily, or can be eaten right away--usually go to Pio Pio in Woodhaven or Jackson Heights-or go to other neighborhoods that take so much time- am desperate for some local ones because of pregnancy, as it has curtailed my chowhounding adventures..so please help if you can!

There's a new place, Rego Pita, that just opened last week on QB in Rego Park, that I haven't tried yet, this might be a contender for falafal, will report back soon about it. Oh,anybody been to the Spice cafe that was supposed to open in the new queens center mall? Same owners as Spice Cafe in City...??

---so far, the only ones I like are:
-Mickie's in Forest Hills for sushi--(which unfortunately I can't have at this time)
-Nick's pizza in FHills--but it never tastes as good as when you eat it there..
-J&D Pizzaria on 63rd rd-Rego Park, good chicken parm, and pastas
-Golden Sea--Forest Hills, has decent chinese-but their deals are only for stay in not takeout. Wish there was a good chinese or Thai here, but no such thing. We head to Flushing and Sri, and it's a drag to takeout from Sri.

Don't like anymore:
-Ben's Deli--Rego Park their matzo balls are hard as rocks, and can't have pastrami anyway...other stuff mediocre and the place seems so dirty to me.
-Columbia Chicken on 63rd Drive Rego Park,,really liked this place, but last few times, my husband and I found the quality of the chicken had changed drastically, and so we haven't returned. Too bad, as it was a great deal, huge container of rice-and 2 breast for just $7
-All the bukarian places--I really can't stomach the garlic french fries and carrots, and kabob stuff from these places--it all tastes and smells the same to me, and just bores me. My husband is into them, but not me.
-Tung Shing Chinese Rego Park--used to be decent years ago, but now it is frankly, vile. I vowed to never eat there again.
-Cactus Fresh in Forest Hills--used to like it, and went to the one in Roslyn for years, but they changed managers this year, and reduced their portions, and serve cold chips, and quality went way downhill. Eat at 5 burro, but taking out mexican is just not very practical from them.
