We stopped in Salt Lake City last week just to eat at Forage. We were not disappointed. The restaurant serves a prix fix menu that changes each day, for $89/person. We had 14 delicious, innovative courses, (plus some of the best bread I have ever eaten). The course descriptions are terse (i.e. green tomato and nasturtium, bison and borage, cucumber and melon) so even though we had the menu in front of us, each course was a surprise. Each course was quite small--two to four bites. This meant that, while we did get plenty to eat, we did not feel overly full at the end of the meal. I don't want to bore everyone by describing the courses, but they were not only very tasty, but beautifully presented. The service was top notch, as well. The room was pleasant and not too noisy. In addition to the 14 listed courses, we were served a little pumpkin full of pumpkin soup with trout caught that morning, four house-made cookies and two servings of zucchini bread to take with us. I did not study the wine list, but opted for the wine pairings with the dinner, which were very good. For those who do not want alcohol with their meals, Forage also offers juice pairings. The couple next to us ordered that, and all of the juices looked house-made and intriguing.
