Foods characteristic of Times Square -- HISTORY FUN

Clams247 | May 4, 2005 04:25 PM

I'm throwing a summer barbecue with a "Times Square" theme. What do you suggest I serve?

I'm thinking:

clams strips (referencing HoJo's, except good)
hot dogs (Sabretts? StahlMeyer? Your recommendationss?)
roast nuts
lobster (re. '30s "lobster palaces")
Nathan's fries
Neddick's orange drink
b/w cookies
various "automat" favorites

Can you recommend any other foods distinctive to or characteristic of Times Square? Contemporaray are okay; old-time are even better. Memorable street foods or famous restaurant dishes are welcome.

Cocktail recommendations are likewise solicited.

Thanks to everyone who remembers this topic from a couple years ago; that party failed to launch. This time for sure!!
