Yes, I know there was a recent thread, but sort of hijacked by a WF discussion.
Anyhow, had a great burger at the WF at Fairfax & 3rd.
Really rare after I "supervised" the prep. Made on a cast iron open electric grill, not really flame broiled. I think this grill is some sort of high amp device; gets very hot, but no drippings flare up. Explained to the cook I wanted extra rare, he agreed after I explained it would "cook" for the next 3 or 4 minutes while I waited in line to pay.
Of course I ate the burger right there. A little too cool to eat outdoors at 7pm.
This burger was extra juicy, yet quite lean; 6 napkins used! Must have been at least 1/2 lb of their best quality meat, but not prime. Close to an inch thick before cooking. Twice I had to warn the cook about pressing the burger with the spatula, I did have almost 10 minutes for an instructional.
This may be the best burger I've had in LA. By no means have I tried all the places advised here; probably never will be able to get to them all. That's OK, a 1/2 dozen places with great burgers will suffice. I still love the burger at Burger 26 on Washington, but that's 35 minutes each way.
