I am going to Paris next month for a week, five days of which will be spent with my 14-year-old. We are renting an apartment, rather than a hotel, so that I can do some cooking (we live in Bermuda and the raw ingredients here often leave much to be desired). I speak French passably -- can understand fairly well, speak haltingly -- and would like to schedule a couple of days of market tours/cooking classes before she arrives. Any recommendations? I have the websites for Paule Caillat and the International Kitchen... has anyone used them? Or are there others in French that might be better?
I also would like some rec's for mid-range restaurants I can take my daughter to, as well as one REALLY good beef restaurant...she is a carnivore. She is quite adventuresome in food for her age -- loves sushi, carpaccio, and virtually any lamb, chicken or beef but has nut allergies and doesn't love organ meats. Ideas? We will likely be based on ile St. Louis so nearly every quartier is close enough. Finally, where are the best places for chocolate?
