Day1: Peter Luger
Day2: Gray's Papaya, Joe's Pizza, Amy's Bread, Magnolia Bakery
Day2: Sparks Steak House
Just wanted to share my experience with other Chow Hounders. My wife and I took a vacation to NYC earlier this month for the sole purpose of eating. We live and Los Angeles. Our first night their we went straight from JFK to our hotel in the city, checked in, and went straight to Peter Luger's in Brooklyn. We were thinking to ourselves, "what a great start to our mini vacation". The next day we made our way to Gray's Papaya to try the famous hot dog. It was definitely good. Literally, minutes later we went down the street to Joe's Pizza on Bleecker St & Carmine. The pizza here IMO is better than any we have in Los Angeles. Then we walked to Amy's Bread and had red velvet cake. This was delicious as well. Then we walked to Magnolia's and sampled their red velvet too. Talk about gorging ourselves! Later that night we had reservations at Sparks Steak House. IMO it was just as good as I remember. Day 3, consisted of eating at Babbo's. I've wanted to come here for years. and let me tell you it was well worth it! We both ordered the pasta tasting menu. It was soooo goood!!!! Our last night we went to Morimoto's. And we shared the omakase and we also ordered the pork kakuni for appetizer and the sea bass for the entree. Luckily for us it was a weekday and they allowed us to share one omakase and order off the regular menu as well. Morimoto's was pleasing both visually and for our mouths. And after all that food, we actually went to Knicks game versus Cleveland. And got to catch a game at the world famous MSG. All in all this was a great trip! Can't wait to do this again with a new line up of restaurants! If anyone has suggestions, I am all ears.
