I do volunteer work at a community food pantry in my affluent suburban area. The charity I volunteer for is highly-regarded, and receives excellent community support. However, this winter things have changed. Today I had to tell the mother of a family that her family would not receive the level of service we have provided other years for the holiday season. Others I spoke with today will not receive what they hoped for.
I want to respectfully suggest that Chowhounds consider making a contribution of food or money to their local food pantry this winter. We who love to cook and eat are logical choices to help others, if we can, eat to live.
