Can anyone recommend a market or stores within walking distance of the intersection of Saint Catherine and Saint Laurent? I will be driving up from New York with a friend in a few weeks and will arrive on a Friday early evening. In my previous post, I mentioned that I thought we could go to Jean-Talon to get a few things for dinner that night so we won't have to deal how crowded the reastaurants are on Friday, but someone helpfully pointed out that many of the vendors will have packed up by then. [We prefer to play it by ear and not make definite dinner reservations the night we arrive.]

Alternatively, can anyone recommend an inexpensive or moderately priced place to have dinner in that neighborhood, and one that we can easily get a table at on a Friday night? Anything in Chinatown that fits that bill? Any good take-out places nearby? We'll be in a suite with a kitchenette, so re-heating, etc. won't be a problem. Cuisine doesn't matter - we eat anything!
