So, this might seem like a kind of morose topic, but this afternoon a Chowhound thread made us realize just how many restaurants here have been lost to fires. Regarding the recent post about the fire at Hanmaru, I really lamented not being able to try the stew that teaTomE described, that everyone was ordering. "Gamja Tang - a stew of kimchi, potatoes and pork spine covered in spices and peppercorns and brought out on a hot plate."
What dish at what restaurant would you *regret* not having eaten that one last time, were that restaurant to sadly become destroyed?
I guess I'm asking, what dish would induce the most saudade? (Saudade = Portuguese word for a feeling of nostalgic longing for something or someone that one was fond of and which is lost. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return.)
Basically, I would love to hear about the other Gamja Tangs, metaphorically speaking, of the city.
