Just a heads-up that there are a couple interesting-looking food-related events at the Japan Society this fall. On November 6th, there's a lecture on sake and pottery by John Gauntner and Robert Yellin, followed by a sake tasting, which should be (I hope will be?) a chance to try some sake that's not usually available here. On December 4th, there's a lecture by a Japanese culinary historian, Hisao Nagayama, entitled "Edo Culture and the Shaping of Japanese Cuisine".
I have no ties to the Japan Society--I'm just someone who occasionally enjoys their offerings.
Further details on the events can be found at the link below. According to John, the sake event sells out every year, so those who are interested may want to get tickets soon.
