I recently thought of making french macarons, having never made any, I wonder what to use to get nice bright colors (as the commercial macarons have) but without any artificial food coloring. I thought of making my own from dehydrated vegetables and powdering them. I did buy beetroot powder at Whole Foods but I haven't tried it in baking yet. Perhaps someone knows a reliable place where I could buy already made natural food coloring or has recipes for making natural food dies and already tried them in baking? Any ideas would be appreciated.
