Flux is Awful

Matt | Oct 8, 2003 09:11 AM

A warning to my fellow food enthusiasts: I tried trendy South End newcomer Flux after reading a solid recommendation in Boston Magazine. Hip décor and music aside, it may have been the worst meal at a well reviewed restaurant I’ve ever eaten in Boston. My fiancé and I had the calamari followed by the sesame toasted salmon and the meat loaf. The calamari was decent, but nothing to rave about. Her salmon was the most overcooked I’ve ever seen in a restaurant anywhere. My meatloaf was well presented and tasted good, but kept us both up for half the night fighting nausea. I’ve often heard Flux described as “above average food at cheap prices”, but suffice to say (considering it still ran about $32 a head with drinks), an extra $15 for a good meal at Café Umbra, The Dish, or any number of establishments in the area would have been well worth the investment. My recommendation: Skip Flux.
