Flushing Food Court: Xian counter and HK Tasty Food

I dropped by the food court tonight to have some beef noodles from the Xian counter. However, they were closed. A hand-scrawled note dated Aug. 11 indicated that they would be on vacation for one month, at least that's what these Japanese eyes made out. A confirmation or correction by a native reader would be greatly appreciated.

Despite the allure of Zhou's Shanghai Shack one stall over (any recent reports?), I mistakenly followed my stomach's desire for a noodle in soup dish. I ended up at HK Tasty Food, the second floor stall closest to the seating area. I ordered the beef stew in noodle soup (#6). The beef pieces were meaty with connective tissue and what seemed like soft cartilage, nice and crunchy. The thin egg noodles and slightly sweet beefy broth were non-descript. I may try one of their congee, but otherwise do not plan on going back.

Happy eating,
Mumon
