Just found out today that Corner 28 is owned by the same gent who owns my favorite shopping center Viet/Thai place, Mekong (seriously underrated by Chowhounds; I'm always amazed by this) as well as Prince Street's NanXiang XiaoLongBao, Canton Gourmet, Pho, Green Papaya and a few other places whose names escape me at moment. This guy is all over the place with two other places in the works. My friend says he will be the "Danny Meyer of the Asian world." I love it! I also found it interesting that the Peking Duck bao is a separate business not affiliated with Corner 28.
Now if only this guy can bring a really good bahn mi to Flushing/Bayside. His son, the owner of Mekong, swears it can't be done b/c of a problem with authentic bread suppliers, but I have no doubt he can be persuaded.
All Things Delish,
