My husband and I are flying into florence/rome in september and would like to take some suggestions on where to eat. We are in our late 20s and are from los angeles. We'd like to have a great experience dining in italy! Its our first time and we are thoroughly excited with the food! we like our pasta, meat dishes but nothing too exotic. We'd like to try anything that ranges from hole in a walls, to sit down family style restaurants to nicer dinners. However, we will be doing all touristy activities (In florence, day 1:Accademia, San Marco Museum, Medici Chapels, Santa Maria novella. Day 2: Bargello, Uffizi Day 3: Santa Croce, Duomo, Boboli Gardens or mercato centrale, Day 4 in SIena then Day 5 train to Rome. No plans yet in Rome but def for a day in the Vatican city, then the colosseo, ruins, etc). I would love to get any ideas for my daily cafe and gelato! would like a quick but tasty lunch and a decent meal at night ...any suggestions welcome!
