Flor Morena Silverlake

Mike M | Oct 6, 200501:37 PM

Ventured into Flor Morena since it is new in the neighborhood. I think the place doesn't feel quite done. Several weeks into the business, cases seem empty except for bakery items from Aunt Em's. Hours appear to be posted on the door on a daily basis. Service seems inexperienced and not quite together. Menu seems "all over the map" Mexican, Cajun, Comfort(visions of Hometown Buffet or the Cheesecake Factory), but at high prices. I asked the server what was their best dish...She recommended the ribs, enchiladas, quesadilla and carne asada. I ordered a carne asada quesadilla (two of the top 4!)and found it really unimpressive for $10. Could get a better version at any number of establishments in the area.

Does anyone know the lineage of this place? Going in it seems like everyone knows each other and is having a good time playing restaurant. But I can't imagine that any of these folks have run a restaurant before. Maybe it is a new reality show.....
