No more home-made sandwiches for today's afternoon nosh! Instead, decided to do same taste testing/comparison of a couple of my favourite dishes - Sha-tin style roasted pigeon and Fried sliced beef with Ho-Fun ( aka Gone-Chow-Ngau-Ho )
Ordered the above from ' Flavourful House ' and comparing them with previously sampled ' Chi-Star ' versions.
Roasted Pigeon:- Flavourful House offering was sadly over-priced, overcooked and under-seasoned! Though skin was crispy and meat, still moist and juicy. Sadly it has to run second fiddle to some of its competitors in the area.
IMO, Chi-Star's roasted pigeon still reigns supreme here in Richmond Hill. Easily bested Ming's, O'Mei, New choice, Casa Victoria and now Flavourful House rendition in both value and taste.
Gone-Chow-Ngau-Ho:- Here, Flavourful House fared much better. Though still a touch pricey, however, the incredible wok-hay and grease-less execution, generous portion and use of lavish, higher grade Angus beef and yellowing chives rendered this a superbly executed and enjoyable dish. One of the best in the GTA, at par with Chi-Star, though LiWan Kitchen in Scarborough still manged to churn out the tastiest offering!
