Stopped in to Flavor Thai on Convoy for lunch today. Was a little skeptical at first, no Asians, all white folks (like myself), but after seeing an 8 year old manning the front counter and a delicious whiff of fish sauce I was soon comforted.
Ordered 3 dishes;
1. Green Papaya Salad (Som Tam) - Probably the best I've had in a restaurant in SD, plenty of crisp papaya and well dressed w/ just right amount of citrus and fish sauce and chili.
2. Larb Kai - Chicken was chopped, not ground. Good flavor, but no roasted rice powder, weakest dish.
3. Pad Thai - Good balance of flavors with firm thin noodles, stir-fried green onions were great.
All dishes were ordered hot (spicy), and did not disappoint, although I still requested and used the chilies in fish sauce and vinegar.
Service was good, friendly and efficient. I'm definitely be heading back. I've been to most Thai restaurants in SD, but I'm always on the look out for a new favorite, please let me know.
