I tried a restaurant called Flapjacks on Glendale Avenue in Sparks today. It's probably not worth making a special trip for it but I liked the food and I'll be going there again.
Flapjacks is a breakfast and lunch place that says it serves breakfast all day. All day ends at 2 p.m. for them., They're open Monday through Saturday. I forgot to get their specific address but it's in about the 2200 block of Glendale Avenue near the state mental health hospital by the Truckee River.
I walked through the front doors and immediately got a strong dose of stench. I don't know from what. I hesitated but walked through the next set of doors into the restaurant. Thankfully the smell wasn't in there.
I got the omelet special of the day, bacon and tomatoes, with hash browns and for 95 cents substituted a pancake for toast. The omelette was standard, nothing fancy and it was good except for one flaw: There was a big slice of melted American cheese on it. I dislike American cheese and it gave the whole omelet that blah American cheese flavor. The hash browns were good and the pancake was excellent, which is what you'd expect from a restaurant named Flapjacks. Tasted like they made it from scratch with good quality ingredients.
The price, including a cup of coffee, was $10.56. Not cheap but a bargain compared to some other places.
I forgot to ask how long they've been open. That spot has been a couple of restaurants, none very good. I hope to see Flapjacks make a go of it.
