I know there are a couple of old posts about this place, but we went last night and I just wanted to say how great it was. The steak was amazing, as was all we had with it (garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, onion rings.)
The only negatives I'd heard, both here and on the Fat Guy site, was the dullness or anachronistic quality of the decor. Instead I found it to be unasssuming, and yet sort of very quietly elegant. All that stood out was the food and the people.
The service was wonderful. We ordered our Porterhouse for 2 medium-rare but it came somewhat closer to rare. Before we had a chance to say anything (which I think our waiter realized we might not do,) he asked if it was done enough, and started taking the meat off our plates - except for 1 small slice each 'til he ret'd.
We didn't have any appetizers or dessert, but everything we saw looked appealing. It was more expensive than I'd been led to believe, but it was well worth it, and still less money than the same would have been at various elswheres - and I suspect, no better.
