Ever Flame Green Peppers like Red Peppers?

It just struck me the other day that I've never read reference to anyone treating a green pepper like a red pepper in a certain way: flame roasting/blackening the red pepper, putting in a bag and then peeling- one of my fav way things to eat. So has anyone tried that w/ a standard green bell pepper and what has been the result? nice and smoky, or bitter...? thanks much.
