Fixing a too-sweet barbecue sauce

I took BBQ sauce out of the freezer; I can't recall what I used it for, but it is cloying and fruity as all get-out. (I think it's this: I'd like to do a lazy version of pulled pork -- letting it cook in BBQ sauce in the crockpot all day -- but I think if I don't modify this sauce it will be awful. Suggestions on what I can add?
