I went to Taiwan Cafe tonite, we wanted to try a fish and we got the pan fried belt fish. This was not that good, it was 3 very fried pieces, not a whole fish. Also it was bony and very salty. Not terrible, but just not what we were looking for. Perhaps we would have been better off with tilapia or some other type of fish that is steamed or fried differently. What are the best fish dishes at TC? Preferably, ones with good sauce?
Other things were good: mustard greens with tofu and edamame, crispy tofu, pork wrapped in bean curd skin, thick, freshly made scallion pancakes. Cold chicken with wine sauce was the only thing we got that I hadn't had before (other than the fish).....it was good, pretty much exactly what it sounds like. I could probably make it at home too.
