Fish Markets in Sacto.

Recently I saw someone mention the fish section in the S. F. Supermarket (nw corner of 65th st and Stockton Blvd) on one of these boards. Since I hadn't been there in quite awhile I thought I'd go check it out again. Man, they have everything. It all looks good, large variety, no big fish smell and big turn over. The place was great because of the mix of cultures shopping there. Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Mexican American, Black American, a few of us old white guy's and I heard someone speaking German too.

The fish assortment is incredible. I wish I could learn where it comes from. What's fresh what's frozen etc.. They have abalone (looks fresh, could be frozen, certainly not dried or canned.) The Corti guy's tell me its farmed. The small ones (about 3" in dia) are $24 a lb. The large (about 7" in dia) are $47 a lb. The Corti guy's tell me that's cheap they'd have to sell it at $75 or $80 bucks a lb. I got 2/3 of a lb. for dinner tonight. I'll let you know the results.

If you like fish and want a large selection give it a try.

If anybody knows where they buy from I'd sure like to know.
