Is anyone else finding it more and more difficult to justify purchasing fish and shellfish based on ocean health, sustainable fish production, and personal health reasons?
Monterey Bay Aquarium has information, but when all is read and done, what's left to buy? I'm eliminating anything farm-raised (especially Asian) and the overfished species, trying to eat lower on the food chain (like sardines), and am taking fish oil caps that say they've filtered out the PCB's and dioxins, and mercury levels are minimal.
This is no fun! Is my abstinence doing any good? A friend says, I don't care where it comes from, I'm going to buy it and eat it. I'm guessing chains like Red Lobster have a similar attitude.
