Back from the Finger Lakes

First let me thank everyone for their suggestions. We had two great dinners. First at Hazelnut in Trumansburg we shared a great salad, split an order of vegetarian risoto (a special) which was the highlight of the meal and shared the hanger steak. We sampled two wines, a dry riesling from Atwater and a cab from Red Newt. We sampled many dry rieslings and rated this second to Dr Frank's.
The other oustanding meal was at Union block Italian Bistro or UBI in Hammondsport. We shared their house salad and loved it, then we paired a side order of meatballs with a side of sauted kale (the green of the night) which proved to be a magical combination, and finished with a faltbread pizza made with pesto, artichokes, squash and cheese, yum! UBI was not your average Italian Restaurant. It had many Mediteranian inspired dishes.
