finest creme brulee in known universe

Yes, yes, my friends, it is indeed true--the finest creme brulee in the known universe can be found right here in fair Gotham. Last night, I dined with friends at Casa Mono (Irving and 17th) and not only did I have one of the most incredible meals I've had in the last few years, but it was topped off by (yes, yes, it is indeed true) the finest creme brulee in the known universe. Top burnt to a perfect glistening crust, consistency and taste absolutely mesmerizing, but the most amazing thing about this dish is its accompaniment of bay leaves encased in a sweet fried dough, which I can best describe as being very similar to that of an old-fashioned doughnut, but with a bay leaf infusion. In a word (a hyphenated word, mind you), awe-inspiring.
