Fine lunch at 6 Degrees on Solano

I was nearby today so I stopped for lunch at 6 Degrees on Solano in Albany, based on the great reports here. It lived up to the high praise it's received. The hostess (owner?) was very inviting and friendly, as was each staff person I dealt with. I chose the steak salad from the $9.95 specials list since the only "meat salad" I've ever had have been in Thai restaurants and I love them. This one was very good, strips of medium-to-medium-rare beef over nice greens tossed with the right amount of vinaigrette dressing, and with a light presence of horseradish in the beef. And what was almost spectacular with it were the lightly toasted slices of garlic-infused bread and olive oil. That bread (I was told it's now their standard bread, and it's from Grace bakery) and the beef salad were made for each other. I didn't have anything else, but this is a great bistro atmosphere place run by good people with fine food at very good prices. I didn't see the dinner menu so I can't comment on that.
