Fine dining in NW corner of Ill.

Planning to do a little weekend getaway with the wife Oct. 18-19. Looking for a nice - preferably small and romantic - restaurant somewhere in the corner of northwestern Illinois or southwestern Wisconsin.

I've heard many suggestions for places in Galena (Fried Green Tomatoes and Vinny Vinucci's among them) and I'm certainly open to those, but I'm wondering if there are any nice places in some of the towns we don't hear about much: Milledgeville, Polo, Savanna, Hanover, etc.

The best I seem to have found outside of Galena is Colonial Rose just north of Dixon.

Basically looking to be west of I-39 from south of Wis 60 (Madison) to I-88 in Illinois.

Or if someone has a really great suggestion for a small, intimate, classy place within 100 miles of Rockford, I'm all ears.

Thoughts anyone?

Greg
