My husband is Peruvian and we've been buying our frozen rocoto in a Latin market on Broadway for years now and when we went in yesterday to buy more, he said that it is now illegal to import it as a whole pepper? We tend to think that he was telling us a fib as he said he hasn't carried it for a year, which is untrue.
Does anyone know a place in Baltimore that sells frozen rocoto?? I don't know how we're going to make ceviche without it! We could use the paste, but it's just NOT the same.
When I looked for this product online I found it, but for $28! WHAT? That's just a crazy price.
